Coach Park Hang-seo has made a shortlist of 25 players for the national squad, and he is expected to cross out another five names on May 5 before the team's opener against Indonesia one day later.

Van Tung, Van Dat, Thanh Minh and Xuan Tu, four of the 10 newcomers Park called up for recent friendlies were selected to stay with the team.

Van Tung scored the only goal for Vietnam in their recent friendly against the Republic of Korea U-20, while Thanh Minh scored against Myanmar U-23 in the Asian U-23 qualifier last October.

Other familiar names that Park chose for the starting lineup include goalkeeper Van Toan, defenders Thanh Binh, Viet Anh, and Tuan Tai, wingers Van Do and Van Xuan.

Midfielders who perform slightly better than their colleagues are Quang Nho, Hoang Anh and Hai Long.

Park and his students are scheduled to move to Phu Tho on April 30 evening to enter final training sessions before the SEA Games. On May 5, Park is expected to announce the official lineup of 20 players and a backup goalkeeper.

SEA Games defending champions Vietnam will play in Group A together with Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Timor Leste. They are due to take on Indonesia on May 6 at Phu Tho Stadium.
