Vietnam confirmed 16,555 COVID-19 infections on December 22, including 33 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health.

The nation has documented 1,588,335 coronavirus infections so far.

The capital city of Hanoi posted the highest number of infections at 1,646, followed by Ca Mau with 1,193, and HCM City at 979.

On the day, the country saw 210 deaths from the disease. The COVID-related death toll now hits 30,251.

A further 13,394 patients were given the all-clear across the country, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,173,484.

There are currently 8,187 patients nationwide in serious condition with the virus, including 1,152 requiring invasive ventilation and 21 on life support.

As of December 21, a total of 141,083,958 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered, with over 63.3 million people now fully inoculated./.
