(ĐN)- An incense-offering ceremony to commemorate King Ly Thai To, the founder of Thang Long capital was held at Tran Bien Temple of Literature in Bien Hoa city on March 26.

The ceremony aimed to honor contributions of King Ly Thai To in building and defending the country, upholding the tradition “Being grateful to the forefather”.

of King Ly Thai To (974 – 1028), who also as known as Ly Cong Uan, is the first King of Ly Dynasty. He was crowned to the King by courtiers and named his era as Thuan Thien in 1009 AD, after the last King of Early Le Dynasty, King Le Long Dinh, passed away.

In 1010 AD, the King decided to relocate the imperial capital from Hoa Lu to Dai La, and change its name to Thang Long capital. This event opened the period of independence, sovereignty and prosperity in Dai Viet. Since then Thang Long capital has become the national, cultural and economic centre of the country.
