(ĐN)- Thanks to the strong investment and development of high-performance sports in recent years, Dong Nai’s sports achieved impressive results in many internationals competitions in 2019.
For the first time, Dong Nai has had the largest number of coaches and athletes in the Vietnamese delegation with three coaches and 12 athletes competing in three games of bowling, judo and , jujitsu, at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines.

At the competition, athletes from Dong Nai province made their historic results when earning two golds, five silvers and two bronzes. The gold medals was won by duo Nguyen Duc Hoa-Nguyen Thi Hai Yen in dance-sports’ quickstep category while the other duo Nguyen Doan Minh Truong - Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen in dance-sports’ Latin America Jive category.
This was the best result of Dong Nai’s sports at the biggest sporting event in South-eastern Asian region.
In addition to the outstanding performance at the 30th SEA Games, Dong Nai also had outstanding results at regional, Asian and world competitions.
Accordingly, Nguyen Thanh Khiet, as the member of Vietnamese team, excellently won a gold medal at the World Traditional Martial Arts Tournament in France in June, 2019. He is one of the eight gold medal winners of Vietnam at the event.
Moreover, bodybuilding and fitness athletes of Dong Nai also bring home joy. Particularly, Ton Hoang Khanh Lan won a total of one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in two international competitions. Meanwhile, two other athletes, namely Tran Van Tam and Tran Thi Ny, also won one silver and one bronze medals for Dong Nai.
Meanwhile, other athletes of Dong Nai also scored high prizes in international marathon competitions.
According to Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Xuan Thanh, owing to the strong investment in high-performance sports. Especially in Olympic sports, the province has had a successful year in internationals competitions, especially the most successful SEA Games. This was the pride and the happiness of Dong Nai’s sports, he added.
