(ĐN)- More than 8,000 athletes from 31 cities and provinces nationwide took part in the 21st annual cross-country running tournament launched by Binh Duong Television (BTV) in Binh Duong province on January 1 in celebration the New Year.

The professional athletes competed over distances between five and ten kilometres for both men and women. Additionally, runners included provincial leaders, pupils, students, workers and old people.
At the end of the competition, runner Nguyen Thi Thuy of Dond Nai finished third in category for professional female runners. Dong Nai male team also defended their third place they had won last year at the event. Meanwhile, Dong Nai male team also ranked third in 10km event.
The annual tournament aims to promote the sport movement in society and encourages people to improve their physical health following the great example of Uncle Ho.
