Following authorisation from the AFF, the Football Association of Thailand have been given approval to organise the ACC 2020.
In total 12 club teams will compete in the tournament, with Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, each sending two teams to the event, whilst Myanmar and Singapore will send one representative each.
Football clubs from smaller footballing nations around the region such as Brunei, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste will take part in play-off matches as a means of selecting two teams for the tournament.
Following the selection of all the participating teams, the competition will divide the teams into two groups, with the first and second place teams in each group progressing to the semi-final round.
The competition’s eventual winner will receive a cash prize of US$400,000.
Each team will be allowed to register three foreign players, including one from Asia and an additional two from Southeast Asia, with squads being made up of between 25 and 30 footballers.
As the current V-League champions, it is likely that Hanoi FC will be one of Vietnam’s representatives at ACC 2020, with the Vietnam Football Federation set to name another team in the near future.
