The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have awarded Nguyen Quang Hai's strike for Vietnam in the final of the AFC U23 Championship 2018 as the winner of the Iconic AFC U23 Goals contest following the conclusion of the voting on December 22.

Following six days in which members of the public were free to vote, Quang Hai’s epic goal finished top of the list with 1,159,847 votes.
This was followed by a strike by Iranian footballer Torabi against China in 2016 which came in second place with 298,037 votes.

The freekick was scored by Quang Hai in the 41st minute of Vietnam’s final against Uzbekistan at the AFC U23 Championship 2018 to help the national team level the scores at 1-1. Despite displaying valiant efforts throughout the tie, Vietnam went on to lose 2-1 to Uzbekistan in extra time.
