The final match saw a fierce encounter played out between Nam and his countryman, Daniel Nguyen, who had entered the tournament as the No.1 seed.
Nam successfully beat Daniel Nguyen with a score of 6/2 and 6/4 to secured the nation’s first gold medal in the regional tournament.
In women’s singles event, Savanna Nguyen failed to beat her Indonesian rival Sutijiadi in the final match, instead being rewarded with a silver medal that adds to the country’s overall medal haul.
