(ĐN)- Dong Nai Political Prisoners Association on December 2 held a ceremony to burn incense to pay tribute to late revolutionary soldiers to a get-together with political prisoners on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the historical insurrection of destroying former Tan Hiep prison (December 2, 1956-2019).
At the event, delegates recalled heroic traditions and indomitable spirit of imprisoned troops at Tan Hiep Prison in the past. At that time, the savage torture of the American invaders and their lackeys at the prison led to an uprising and prison break with the participation of thousands of revolutionary soldiers. As a result, 462 soldiers escaped from the prison while 22 others died. However, the event became a resounding victory during the first stage of the Vietnam's Southern revolution.
The vestige of Tan Hiep prison is the location of a historical insurrection of destroying the prison on 2nd December, 1956. The historic site was recognized as national relic in 1994. In 2016, the province invested more than VND24 billion to upgrade and restore the relic site. Last year, Tan Hiep prison received the People’s Arm Force Hero title.
