Desriac won the 9km stage in individual trial finishing with a time of 10 minutes and 38.12secs with the average speed of 48.518 km/h. Trinh Duc Tam of Loc Troi Group and Patrick Saccani Williams of Australia were the runners-up with times of 10:51.36 and 10:52.39, respectively.
Yellow jersey holder Jordan Parra of Bike Life Dong Nai failed to make the top 10 after suffering a puncture around 2km in. So Desriac stole the yellow jersey from his teammate Parra in this stage.
However, Parra still held the green jersey as the best sprinter.
The white jersey for the best young cyclist went to Quang Van Cuong of Loc Troi Group who is in the national team to prepare for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games to be held in the Philippines later this year.
In the team rankings, Loc Troi Group took the lead, followed by Bike Life Dong Nai and VUS-HCM City.
The VTV Cup event attracted more than 80 athletes from six Vietnamese teams and six foreign teams, competing in eight stages covering around 1,045km along the length of the country.
