A total 113 athletes from 15 cities and provinces will compete in five categories of men’s and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles for a total prize fund of US$10,200.
“They are the best players currently such as world No 59, Nguyen Hai Dang, Phạm Cao Cuong and Le Duc Phat on the men’s side and Vu Thị Trang, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy and Nguyễn Thuy Linh on the women’s,” said Le Thanh Ha, general secretary of the Việt Nam Badminton Federation.
“Outstanding players will be source for the national team for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games,” he said.
Title favourites include mixed pair Nguyen Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao, who are close to wining a berth for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
