A total of 27 players are to be called up to the Vietnamese men’s football team in preparation for the second stage of the Asia-Pacific region’s World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign.

According to Le Hoai Anh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, the Vietnamese team can only register a squad of 23 to take part in each match during World Cup 2022 qualifications. However, head coach Park Hang Seo will name 27 footballers in each of his squad’s before cutting down the number of players at a later date.

He also noted that up to 30 footballers are to be named in the Vietnam U23 team ahead of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Both the Vietnamese national team and the U23 team are due to meet up at the same time in September, October, and November for FIFA dates, therefore assistant Kim Han Yoon will continue to manage Vietnam’s U23s.
Park Hang Seo will continue in his role as head coach of the national team for the second stage of World Cup 2022 qualifying in the Asia-Pacific region.
