The annual competition is held on the occasion of the death anniversary of Hung Kings, the legendary founders of Vietnam, which falls on the 10th day of the third lunar month every year.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Counsellor Dinh Hoang Linh at the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, said the event demonstrates the fine tradition of “drinking water, remembering the source” and promote patriotism among young generations.
Head of the Vietnamese community liaison board Nguyen Thuy Ha said the competition creates a healthy playground for the participants and it is an occasion for overseas Vietnamese in Singapore to show national solidarity.
The tournament will wrap up on April 21.
