Vietnam held the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup trophy again after 10 years after beating Malaysia 1-0 in the second-leg final of the tournament that took place at My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi, on December 15 night.

Nguyen Anh Duc heated up the atmosphere at the stadium and outside when he scored from a wonderful volley inside the box in the sixth minute.

Earlier, Tran Dinh Trong was fouled right given  a yellow card for tackling on Nguyen Quang Hai.

Just one minute later, the team’s captain Mohd Zaquan received a yellow card for fouling Dang Van Lam, the fifth for Malaysia.

The second half had four additional minutes.

No more goals were scored until the referee blew the final whistle, and football fans nationwide are expected to enjoy a big fest tonight.

Vietnam stormed emphatically into the final of the AFF Cup after the team drew Malaysia in the first-leg final of the AFF Cup at the Bukit Jalil national stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on December 11.

Speaking to reporters at the pre-match conference in Kuala Lumpur on December 10, coach Park Hang-seo pointed out that it has been 10 years since the team has played in a major final.

At the press conference on December 14, the head coach also said he would meet Republic of Korea and Vietnamese supporters’ expectations by keeping the AFF Championship trophy at home.

Vietnam glowed bright red on December 15 night as celebrations took place every corner of the country cheering the victory freshly claimed by the men’s football team.

Fans are stuck on the streets, yet they all wear smiles.
