Lasting from November 15 to December 10, the Games attracted the participation of more than 7,000 athletes from 65 delegations nationwide, competing for 743 sets of medals in 36 sports in multiple venues throughout Hanoi and the two provinces of Khanh Hoa and Hoa Binh.
After nearly one month of competition, Hanoi topped the medal tally with 176 gold, 149 silver and 139 bronze medals, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 118 golds, 101 silver and 103 bronze medals. There were 43 new national records and 169 new games records established at the event.
Meanwhile, Dong Nai sports delegation earned the best-ever achievements when finishing the Games with 17 gold, 10 silver and 26 bronze medals, ranking 11th in the overall medal tally.
At the ceremony, the organizers presented the flags of honor to 10 delegations with excellent achievements at the Games. They also award emulation flags to hosts Hanoi and the five leading sports delegations from mountainous provinces.
