Nguyen Van Tri beat his Malaysian rival Mohd Khaizul 5-0 in the 90-95kg weight category in the final.
While Tran Dinh Nam beat another Malaysia rival, Mohd Fauzi Khalid, by the same 5-0 score in the 70-75kg weight category.
These are the first gold medals for Vietnam’s Pencak silat athletes at ASIAD 2018 and the third and fourth gold medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation overall.
The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) has recognised the accomplishment by awarding a cash bonus of VND200 million to Nguyen Van Tri and Tran Dinh Nam who won the third and fourth gold medals for Vietnam at ASIAD.
Previously, Vietnam’s female Pencak silat team, including Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thu Ha and Vuong Thi Binh won a silver medal after finishing their competition with 464 points, 2 points behind the host team, Indonesia.
The Vietnamese sports delegation has so far won 4 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals to climb to 14th position in the medal tally at ASIAD 2018.
