Lan pocketed the medal in the women’s under 78kg event, which is also the first medal for Vietnam’s Kurash team at ASIAD 2018.

Head of the Vietnamese Kurash team Nguyen Quoc Trung said the achievement is of significance to the development of the sport in Vietnam in the coming time, as Kurash has just been practiced in the country recently.

In 2017, Vietnam earned one gold medal in Kurash at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Turkmenistan, he added.

As of 21:45 on August 30, the Vietnam delegation had bagged 4 gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze medals, ranking 15th in the ASIAD 2018 medal tally.
