Mai wins Dong Nai Don ca tai tu and Cai luong contest

(ĐN)- Pham Thi Thanh Mai, from Dong Nai Don ca tai tu Club, excellently overcame 12 other contestants in the final round to win the first prize at the Dong Nai Don ca tai tu (southern folk music) and Cai luong (Reformed theater) contest 2018.

The second prizes went to Ly Thi Thanh Tuyen. From Cam My district, Nguyen Thi Kim Yen, from Thong Nhat dsitrict and Pham Thu Hong, from Bien Hoa city. In addition, the organizers also awarded 6 third and 3 consolation prizes to other contestants.

The contest held by Dong Nai Culture Center attracted the participation of 60 contestants from localities across the province. Of them, 13 had been chosen for the final round organized on July 28 at Nguyen Van Tri Walking Street in Bien Hoa city.

“Don ca tai tu”, a musical art in southern Vietnam, known as a musical art that has both scholarly and folk roots, “it developed in southern Vietnam in the late 19th century.

It has been transmitted from generation to generation through official and unofficial forms of education. “Don ca tai tu” has continually been popularised through cultural exchanges among peoples.
