Vietnamese shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh was named second in the world men's 10m air pistol rankings for January, according to the latest announcement by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

Vinh claimed second place in the discipline following his triumph at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Vietnamese marksman currently has 1,562 points, behind Matsuda Tomoyuki of Japan who topped the rankings with 2,150 points.

Korostylov Pavlo and Omelchuk Oleh of Ukraine, Wu Felipe Almeida of Brazil and Yang Pei of China were the runners-up.

In the 50m slow fire pistol event, Vinh ranked fourth in the world with 978 points. The first position went to Jin Jongoh of the Republic of Korea with 1,749 points.
