National sport festival of ethnic minorities kicks off

The 10th national sport festival of ethnic minority groups in central, south central and Central Highlands provinces and Ho Chi Minh City officially opened in Dak Lak on May 31 evening.

 

The 10th national sport festival of ethnic minority groups in central, south central and Central Highlands provinces and Ho Chi Minh City officially opened in Dak Lak on May 31 evening.

The event saw the participation of athletes from 17 regional provinces and cities, namely Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Nong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and the host Dak Lak.

The athletes will compete in seven sports, including football, volleyball, stick-pushing, crossbow shooting, tug of war, running and walking on stilts.

The festival is designed to introduce and honour cultural values and traditional sports of ethnic minority groups, preserve folk games and widely develop physical training and sport playing movements.

The event will run until June 4./.
