(ĐN)-The 8th Dong Nai Sports Festival for Disabled People concluded on Thursday at the provincial Sports Center after three days of competition. This is part of the activities to celebrate the 37th anniversary of Vietnamese Day for Disabled People (April 18).
At the end of the festival, Bien Hoa city won the first place after winning 18 gold, 9 silver and 16 bronze medals, followed by Trang Bom and Xuan Loc district.
Jointly held by Departments of Labour, War Invalid, and Social Affairs, and Culture, Sports and Tourism, the competition attracted 240 athletes representing for more than 154,000 disabled people in the province, competing for 54 sets of medals in 5 games including athletics, swimming, table-tennis, weight-lifting and badminton.
The annual event offers a good opportunity for people with disabilities to exchange experiences. It also aims to help them find meaning in life, encourage hope and integrate into the community as well as to select outstanding athletes to compete at the upcoming National Sports Festival for Disabled People which will be held in HCM city this June.
