(ĐN)- The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has petitioned the Prime Minister for selecting to present the 2016 Ho Chi Minh and State awards to 8 authors in culture and arts field.

Among the nominees for the State award is musician Tran Viet Binh, resident of Dong Nai province, who is a member of the Vietnam Musician Association, the Vietnam Folk Letters and Arts Association and the Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association.

Binh has composed many famous songs, namely Dong song (The river), Dong Nai mua sau rieng (Dong Nai province in durian harvesting season), Hat gao lang ta (our village’s rice), etc.

If the list of nominees is adopted, Tran Viet Binh will be the third people of Dong Nai province to get the State award in the field of literature and arts, after late writer Ly Van Sam and late writer Hoang Van Bon.

These two prestigious awards conferred by the President provide encouragement to authors and receive strong response from the public.
