The province is one of 21 localities in the South to preserve “Don ca tai tu” which was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.
Dong Nai currently has 31 clubs and groups with 328 “Don ca tai tu” artisans which are operating regularly across the province. However, the clubs and groups do not have enough expense for their regular activities as well as have not yet been invested to preserve the musical genre.
To implement the national action program on protecting musical art in southern Vietnam for the 2014-2020 period, Dong Nai People’s Committee has asked relevant departments and sectors co complete and implement the plan, provide support and invest in developing “Don ca tai tu”
“Don ca tai tu”, a musical art in southern Vietnam, known as a musical art that has both scholarly and folk roots, “it developed in southern Vietnam in the late 19th century.
It has been transmitted from generation to generation through official and unofficial forms of education. “Don ca tai tu” has continually been popularised through cultural exchanges among peoples.
