Dong Nai ranks 10th at national school games

The ninth National School Games officially wrapped up in Vinh City, in the central province of Nghe An on August 10 after 20 days of competition.

At the end of the games, students from Dong Nai province earned 3,282 points after scoring 19 gold, 46 silver and 100 bronze medals to rank 10th. In addition, the province's delegation was also awarded excellent flag for their outstanding performance at the games.

The Ho Chi Minh City team claimed the first place with 9,610 points, followed by Hanoi and Thanh Hoa with 7,854 and 5,886 points.

The 2016 Games, lasting from July 29 to August 10 in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces, attract over 6,000 athletes from 63 cities and provinces, competing in 15 sports, including swimming, shuttlecock, Vovinam, basketball, badminton, table tennis, pencak silat, volleyball, chess, football, stick pushing, physique, track and fields, karate and taekwondo.

The Games, which are held every four years, is a Ministry of Education and Training tradition for students of all ages. It aims to promote solidarity in children through school sports; provide opportunities for athletes to improve their sporting talents and allow them to meet with each other through the tournaments.
