(ĐN)- The 2016 National Sports Festival for Disabled Athletes concluded in Ho Chi Minh city on July 14.
At the end of the event, athletes from Dong Nai province scored 3 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze medals to finish 11th. HCM city went first, earning 254 gold, 255 silver and 178 bronze medals, followed by Ha Noi and Quang Tri. They also topped the junior competition.

The five-day tournament drew the participation of more than 1,000 athletes from 27 cities and provinces nationwide, competing for 680 sets of medals in seven event categories including track and field, weightlifting, swimming, chess, table tennis, badminton and boccia.
The junior competition was integrated into the national tournament for the first time ever, with young disabled athletes competing in three events including track and field, swimming and chess.
The annual tournament provides a good opportunity to select outstanding athletes for the Vietnamese disabled sports team in preparation for Paralympic Rio, Brazil-2016 and the Asian Youth Para Games next year.
