(ĐN)- The 2016 Dong Nai Youth Athletics Championships kicked off at Dong Nai Stadium in Dong Nai province early on July 4.
The tournament, the first-ever of its kind held by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attracted the participation of nearly 100 young athletes, representing 9 localities across the province, competing for 44 sets of medals in categories for professionals and young athletes.
On the first day of competition, Cam My topped the contest with 9 gold medals, followed by Trang Bom with 7 gold medals.
The championship, which runs until July 4, aims to promote the athletics training movement in society as well as offer a good chance for young athletes to practice and sharpen their skills, and select best athletes for the forthcoming national athletic competitions.
