At the end of the festival, Bien Hoa city topped the medal tally with 16 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze medals; followed by Trang Bom district with 13 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Dinh Quan district with 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Jointly held by Departments of Labour, War Invalid, and Social Affairs, and Culture, Sports and Tourism, the competition attracted 235 athletes representing for more than 154,000 disabled people in the province, competing for 54 sets of medals in 5 games including athletics, swimming, table-tennis, weight-lifting and badminton.
The annual event offers a good opportunity for people with disabilities to exchange experiences. It also aims to help them find meaning in life, encourage hope and integrate into the community as well as to select outstanding athletes to compete at the upcoming National Sports Festival for Disabled People which will be held in HCM city this July.
