The three-day tournament brought together nearly 150 young chess players from 11 teams from southern provinces and cities. The players were divided into six age groups: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and categories of men’s single, women’s single, men’s team and women’s team.
The tournament offered an opportunity for chess players to exchange, heighten their competition skills and experiences. Earlier, these young players had won 5 gold and 3 bronze medals at Open Mekong Delta Region Chess Tournament in celebration of Lunar New Year 2016 which took place between February 12 and 15.
