(ĐN)- A ceremony was held at the Hanoi Opera House on January 10 to present People’s Artist and Meritorious Artist titles with the attendance of President Truong Tan Sang and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

Addressing the event, President Sang stressed that these titles are the Party’s and State’s noble rewards for outstanding artists who have contributed greatly to building and developing the cultural sector and been respected by their colleagues and people.
He expressed his hope that in the context of extensive international integration and cultural exchange, Vietnamese artists in general will continue improving their knowledge and capacity to create high value works and help promote Vietnam’s cultural values to the world. He asked the awarded to promote their core role in artistic activities and support young artists.
At the ceremony, 102 artists were presented the People’s Artist title while the Meritorious Artist title was also awarded to 377 artists. Among them, artists Ngan Vuong and Chieu Hung, all from Dong Nai Traditional Arts Theater, were awarded the People’s Artist title and Meritorious Artist title, respectively. So far, Dong Nai has had 2 people’s artists and 7 meritorious artists.
