(ĐN)- The ASEAN Cultural Exchange Programme took place Dong Nai provincial Conference Center yesterday, drawing the attendance of Deputy Consul General of Laos in HCM city, provincial leaders and over 400 delegates from departments and sectors, businesses in ASEAN, and Laos and Cambodian students who are studying at universities, colleges in the province.

According to Vice Chairman of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Vinh, ASEAN Community (AC) will help boost the economic development in ten countries in the region and increase the living condition of the people. AC currently has total population of 625 million people with annual GDP of US$2,600 billion, expected to increase by 7%. The community has created 14 million jobs for laborers in the region. AC is the seventh largest economy in the world and is expected to to be the fourth largest economy in the world as early as 2050.
In Dong Nai, ASEAN is one of the province’s key markets. Dong Nai’s export turnover to the region is estimated at more than US$1.4 billion. The main export commodities of the province to ASEAN are garment, footwear and wooden products. ASEAN has so far invested in 143 projects in Dong Nai with total registered capital of nearly US$3.9 billion.
