The focus during the last round was in fact on Dong Nai, which had to beat Quang Ninh -- and Can Tho had to lose to Quang Nam – to avoid relegation.

Before the match, Dong Nai Coach Tran Binh Su said his players would “fight though there was only 1 percent of hope and [needed] a miracle.”

Christian Amougou scored the first and only goal for Dong Nai in the 9th minute.

But they gave away two goals in the first half to Vu Minh Tuan in the 22nd and 41st minutes.

Two more goals for Quang Ninh in the 2nd half from Hai Huy and Mac Hong Quan, and Dong Nai’s fate was sealed.

Elsewhere, Can Tho managed a 0-0 draw with Quang Ninh to stay in the top flight.

At the top, Hanoi T&T defeated Dong Tam Long An 3-1 to retain 2nd place, followed by Thanh Hoa in third.
In the 1st Division, Hanoi topped the table to secure a slot in the V-League next season.
