Three Vietnamese footballers have been named in the Southeast Asian Games team of the tournament by footballchannel.asia.

They are defender Que Ngoc Hai, midfielder Vo Huy Toan and striker Nguyen Cong Phuong.

The website planned each position and formed a deadly 3-5-2 formation of this year's competition into a workable XI.

"The young defender was the driving force behind many of his side's incisive counterattacks as he brought the ball out of defence with invention and pace, as well as his great vision and strength in tackle to build a strong defensive line. Twenty-two-year-old Song Lam Nghe An man showed why he is so revered within the Viet Nam ranks, and was a major force of Toshiya Miura's side's during the tournament," the website wrote about Hai.

About Toan, the website said, "Viet Nam did not progress to the final stage, but Toan was simply superb during the tournament as the 22-year-old produced an impressive attacking display from his left winger position. The SHB Da Nang winger became the one of competition's top goal-scorers with five goals, along with Thailand's striker Chananan Pombuppha and Myanmar youngster Sithu Aung."

Phuong was also highly appreciated by the website. He was in majestic form for Viet Nam, as he notched up three goals and his ratings during the tournament were consistently superb.

The Hoang Anh Gia Lai star's goal in the match against Malaysia in the qualifying round on June 2 was selected as the best goal of the Singapore Games by the event's organising board. In that game, Phuong curved a 25m-long free kick to the high corner of Malaysia's net, past leaping custodian Mohd Farhar.

In the line-up, defending champions Thailand have five names, comprising four players and the coach. The remaining three players are from Indonesia and Myanmar.
