Swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien is the only athlete in the Southeast Asian region to win three official berths to compete at the Olympic Games in Brazil.
Her first ticket came after swimming 4min 42.60sec in the women's 400m IM event at the Arena Pro Swim Series in the US last November.
Vien was successful at the recent SEA Games, and grabbed her second and third spots in the 200m IM (2:13.53) and 400m free style (4:08.66).
According to coach Dang Anh Tuan, Vien needs one more A standard to register to compete in multiple events at the Rio de Janeiro Games.
Viet Nam also have two athletes who have passed the Olympic B standard.
They are Hoang Quy Phuoc in the 100m and 200m freestyle and Lam Quang Nhat in the 1,500m free style.
However the International Swimming Federation limits the number of athletes to 900, so the B standard holders are not ensured of their berths.
Athletes will have a chance to beat the A standard time at the World Championships in Russia beginning on August 2.
