Trinh Thi Bich Nhu brought home the day’s only silver placing second in the women’s 50m butterfly S6 event. Nhu clocked a final time of 41.71 seconds, 2.64 sec behind the gold medallist, Lu Dong of China.
Athletics contributed three bronze medals – two by Nguyen Be Hau in the men’s discus throw – F56 and Shot Put - F55/56 disciplines and one by Nguyen Thi Nhan in the women’s long jump – T11/12 category.
The remaining two bronzes were won in badminton (men’s double SL 3,4/SU5) and table tennis (women’s team – TT9-10).
Earlier in the morning, swimmers Vo Thanh Tung and Nguyen Thanh Trung earned Vietnam two gold medals in the men’s 50m butterfly S5 and 200m individual medley SM5, respectively, while Ha Thi Hue took bronze in the women’s Shot Put – F37.
As of 9pm today, Vietnam was 10th in the medal count with nine golds, seven silvers and 13 bronzes. China topped the standings with 159 golds, followed by RoK and Japan with 67 and 37, respectively.
