(ĐN)- A meeting on the preparation for the death anniversary of the Hung Kings was held by Bien Hoa city People's Committee on April 1.

Accordingly, various activities will be organized at Hung Kings' Temple in Binh Da ward, Bien Hoa city to celebrate the event.

The 2-day event will feature a wide range of activities, including a Chung and Giay (Square and Round) cake making competition, dragon-and-phoenix-shaped fruit decoration, Chinese chess contest and folk games.

Besides, this year festival will also feature food stalls displaying specialties nationwide.

The main ceremony, held on April 9 (March 10 of the Lunar Year), will include Chung and Giay cakes and incense-offering ceremonies to Hung Kings.

This is the 5th consecutive year Dong Nai Department of Culture, Sports and Toursim has organized such a significant event.

The Worship of Hung Kings was recognised as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity at the seventh session of the UNESCO committee in Paris on December 6, 2012.

Vietnamese legends recount the rule of the 18 Hung King dynasties during the first period of Vietnamese history, between 2879-258 BC. The worshipping rituals are closely related to the worship of ancestors that is a tradition of most Vietnamese families and an important part of the people's spiritual lives.
