Football: Vietnam maintains top position in SEA

Vietnam climbed 9 notches in the latest FIFA rankings for April and retained its number one position in Southeast Asia, according to the Vietnam Football Federation on April 11.

Vietnam climbed 9 notches in the latest FIFA rankings for April and retained its number one position in Southeast Asia, according to the Vietnam Football Federation on April 11.

    Vietnam jumped from 125th in March to 116th in April, scoring 242 points.   

    In Asia Vietnam also moved to 16th place, up one notch compared to March standings.

    Thailand outplayed the Philippines to finish second in Southeast Asia, 20th in Asia, and 140th in the world.

    Malaysia came in third in the region, 22nd in Asia and 142nd in the world.

    Globally, Spain is the strongest team, followed by Germany and Portugal. Argentina fell to 6th from 2nd in March.
