A photography exhibition entitled ‘Dien Bien Phu – Determined to battle and win’ opened this morning at the Quang Tri provincial museum.

On display are nearly 100 photos related to the Vietnamese resistance war against France and especially the Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954.

The exhibition honours the revolutionary heroism and the brave spirit of the Vietnamese people and army during their struggle for independence. Organisers hope to encourage the younger generations to actively contribute to the cause of national construction and defence.

The exhibition runs through May 15.

Also this morning, an exhibition opened at the Can Tho city museum with 122 photos, documents and artifacts that illuminate the contributions of officials, soldiers and people during the resistance wars against France and the US.

The exhibition offers an opportunity for the city’s students to understand more about the tradition of national defence among the older generations, and for veterans to relive their emotional memories from the nation’s struggle for independence.

Earlier on April 22, an arts programme took place in Dien Bien province to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

The programme featured numerous songs and dances honouring the nation’s glorious historical moments, and offered praise to President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Dien Bien Phu victory.
