Vietnam will organize International Day of Happiness for the first time this year on March 20 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST).

In 2012 the United Nations declared March 20 to be observed as International Day of Happiness.

Vietnam, one of the 193-member UN organisation, has committed to supporting this event through practical activities, aiming to improve the quality of life and build an equitable society for all, said MoCST deputy minister Vuong Duy Bien at a press briefing in Hanoi on March 12.

Bien said a number of workshops, training courses, forums, contests and sport games will be held across the country to encourage every individual and organisation to bring happiness to their relatives, families and the community.

The event, themed “love and sharing,” will be launched at the Hanoi Opera House on March 20 by the MoCST and the Vietnam Women’s Union.
