(ĐN)- Dong Nai province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism this morning organized a ceremony to start construction of the first phase of Tan Hiep Prison relic site restoration project.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri along with 30 former political prisoners and a lot of young people in Bien Hoa city.

The first phase of the project will be carried out the Central Fine Arts Company with the total cost of more than VND3 billion, funded by 21 local organizations and enterprises, and is expected to be completed in September this year.

The vestige of Tan Hiep prison is the location of a historical insurrection of destroying the prison on 2nd December, 1956. The historic site was recognized as national relic in 1994. In 1997, it was invested and restored to become the place for sightseeing and traditional activities.
