Ong Pagoda Festival opens

(ĐN)-The 2014 Ong Pagoda Festival was held yesterday with the attendance of Chairman Vy Van Vu of Dong Nai provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Head of the Mass Mobilisation Department Huynh Van Tinh and Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri of the provincial People's Committee.

(ĐN)-The 2014 Ong Pagoda Festival was held yesterday with the attendance of Chairman Vy Van Vu of Dong Nai provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Head of the Mass Mobilisation Department Huynh Van Tinh and Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri of the provincial People’s Committee.

During three-day event, many activities will be held, such as unicorn-lion-dragon dance, traditional music performance, calligraphy performance, etc.

The festival, the second of its kind, aims to contemplate and worship, recall ancestors, and pray for safety and prosperity for the country and people.

Ong Pagoda is located at Hiep Hoa commune, Bien Hoa city. It was built in 1684 by the Chinese Community in Cu Lao Pho (Pho isle). At first, it was named Quan De Pagoda, and later renamed That Phu Co Temple (or Ong Pagoda).

In 2001, Ong Pagoda was listed as national cultural heritage.
