(ĐN)- Dong Nai bagged a total of 6 gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze medals to rank sixth at the fifth National Sports Festival for students with disabilities, which closed in Thai Nguyen province on December 8.
Particularly, the hearing-impaired football team from Dong Nai defeated the hosts Thai Nguyen 4-2 in the final game to win gold medal.
Thai Nguyen came in first while Thai Binh and Ha Noi were runners-up. Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri shared the third place at the festival.
The six-day festival drew the participation of nearly 700 visually impaired and hearing-impaired students from 14 provinces and cities across the country. Of whom, 38 came from Dong Nai.
The participants, divided into the age groups of 16-18, 13-15 and under 13, competed in six events including football, athletics, tug-of-war, chess, table tennis and badminton.
86 sets of medals was presented to teams and athletes for strong performances during the festival.
The biennial event offers a good opportunity for students with disabilities to exchange experiences.It also aims to help them find meaning in life, encourage hope and integrate into the community.
