Marquis Nguyen Huu Canh’s death anniversary commemorated

(ĐN)- A ceremony to commemorate the 313th death anniversary of Marquis Nguyen Huu Canh was held at the Marquis’ Temple in Hiep Hoa commune, Bien Hoa city on June 23.

(ĐN)- A ceremony to commemorate the 313th death anniversary of Marquis Nguyen Huu Canh was held at the Marquis’ Temple in Hiep Hoa commune, Bien Hoa city on June 23 (the 16th day of the fifth lunar month) .

Nguyen Huu Canh was born in 1650 in the village of Phuoc Long, Chapter Tin Phong Loc (which is now in Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh province). He died in 1770 and was buried next to the headquarters at Pho Isle in Bien Hoa city.

Nguyen Huu Canh  was a famous army commander and an excellent administrator under the Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu’s court. He is credited for expanding territories to the south and establishing the administrative management for the southern region at the end of the 17th century.
