The 2013 Danang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC) will open on the banks of Danang City’s Han River on April 29.

The 6th iteration of the event, which will run over two days, was announced by the Danang municipal People’s Committee in a press conference on March 26.

This year’s competition, themed “Han River Love”, has attracted the participation of five teams from Russia, Italy, Japan, the US, and host Danang (representing Vietnam).

The organising board will set up four stages totaling a 37,000 seat capacity. Locals and tourists will be able to purchase tickets priced from VND200,000 to VND400,000 per person per night.

The competition encompasses a variety of other entertainment including a food festival, flower boat parade, marine sports, a photographic exhibition on Danang, a book festival, street music performances, a souvenir and folk game exhibition, and Famtrip delegation exchanges.

The five previous Danang International Fireworks Competitions (2008–2012) were watched by thousands of tourists and a television audience numbering millions, transforming the event into a special national cultural occasion.

The competition will be held biennially from now on.
