The national squad will have a friendly match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in preparation for the 2012 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has appointed coach Mai Duc Chung to train the national squad for this friendly game.
The team is scheduled to fly to Kuala Lumpur on October 12 and play against the UAE on October 14.
In the 2010 AFC U19 Championship, the UAE trounced Vietnam 4-0, so Chung says the re-clash this time is an opportunity for the national team to demonstrate their real strength and test their skills.
After the match, the team will return to Vietnam and continue practising before flying to Qatar for a 7-day training session at the Aspire Sports Academy on October 25.
Vietnam will compete in the final round of the AFC Championship in the UAE on November 1. They will take on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Uzbekistan, and Jordan in Group C.
