Over 260 photos are on display in the 26th National Photographic Exhibition which opened at the Fine Art Museum of Ho Chi Minh City on October 10.

The photos—82 black-and-white and 181 colour—have been selected from 6,839 images taken by 201 photographers from 48 cities and provinces across the country.

They comprehensively reflect the complexity of Vietnam’s landscape and people. Many of the photos are worthy of praise for both content and form, skillfully capitalising on the potential of the medium to elicit profound emotion from viewers.

The biennial exhibition aims to showcase and review the development of the art over the preceding two years (2011 and 2012).

This year’s exhibition will last through to October 17.
