The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture , Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Education Nguyen The Ky, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council Huynh Thi Nga, and Vice Chairman of People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri.
According to the organisers, 27 cai luong (reformed opera) plays exploring modern social topics will be showcased at this year's festival.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Minister Vuong Duy Bien said that the festival is an opportunity for directors and artists to learn from each other and share experiences; it also aims to promote the traditional reformed opera and bring cai luong to whole new audiences.
Earlier, the festival’s participants visited Bien Hoa city and burnt icnense at Tran Bien Temple of Literature.
