(ĐN)- The opening ceremony of the 8th Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival was held at the province’s Conference Centre on Jan 8.

The ceremony was attended by Secretary Tran Dinh Thanh of Dong Nai provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman Huynh Thi Nga of the provincial People’s Council and Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri of People's Committee.
The festival is the largest cultural and sporting event for pupils as well as outstanding athletes from the municipal education and training departments. This is an excellent chance for them to pick the players for the national sport festival.
The festival will last till Jan 17.
Around 4,000 athletes from 64 schools across the province are competing in 15 events, including swimming, table tennis, shuttle cock, badminton, chess, volleyball, football, Karate, Taekwondo, Vovinam, Aerobic, tug of war, basket ball, track and field, and others.
