Vietnam’s national football squad on September 8 clinched a convincing victory over Brunei at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Youth Championships, which is taking place in Myanmar.
Under coach Trieu Quang Ha, the Vietnamese team smashed their rivals 7-0, Thanh Hien scoring 3, Xuan Nam 2, Dinh Thang 1 and Tuan Vu 1. The team will meet host Myanmar on September 10.
On September 9, Laos’ U19 team held Indonesia to a 3-3 draw.
This year’s championships há attracted 10 teams divided into two groups. Vietnam í in group B with Brunei, Indonesia, Laos and host Myanmar, while Group A consists of Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Cambodia.
The event aims to select the best players for the national teams to compete at regional competitions.
