*** In Xuan Loc district, a contest to decorate trays with Mid-Autumn food was held in the district on September 10. Co-organised by the Education and Training Office, the Youth union and the children house of Xuan Loc district, the event attracted the participation of a large number of contestants from 51 primary and junior high schools in the district.
Team from Xuan Hung Primary School won the first prize in the primary school category while team from Nguyen Trai Junior High School bagged the first prize in the junior high school category.
On this occasion, the district’s Children House presented gifts totaling VND 4 million to 300 poor students in the locality. Each gift inclduded cakes, candies and a lantern.
**** On the same day, the Long Thanh District Fatherland Front Committee in coordination with Hanh Chieu Monastery gave gifts to 300 poor children in the two remote communes of Binh An and Suoi Trau. Each gift included moon cakes, notebooks and cash worth VND 50,000. The gifts worth a total of over VND 30 million contributed by Buddhist followers of Hanh Chieu Monastery. In addition, the Monastery also offered Mid-autumn gifts to 400 poor children in An Phuoc commune.
The Long Thanh district’s Red Cross Chapter plans to send delegations to visit and present gifts worth VND 20 million to 200 poor and disabled children in remote communes of the district.
**** In Thong Nhat district, the district Blind People’s Association on September 11 gave 20 gifts to its members’ children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Each gift worth VND200,000, including moon cakes and a lantern. Since the start of the year, the Association has raised hundreds of millions of dong to present over 1,000 gifts to its members’ children.
