Completing the transport infrastructure system, especially a modern and synchronous road system, is one of Dong Nai's important goals in the coming time to serve development. Therefore, in addition to continuing to accelerate the progress of projects that have been and are being implemented, the province has also planned to build new strategic road routes.

These are the new "brushstrokes" that contribute to gradually completing the "picture" of the road network in the province.
Synchronously developing transport axes for regional connectivity
According to the adjusted Dong Nai Provincial Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (Dong Nai Provincial Planning) approved by the Provincial People's Council, one of the breakthroughs identified by Dong Nai is to complete the framework for intra-provincial, regional, interregional, and international connectivity within Dong Nai province, completing a synchronous, modern, smart infrastructure system that adapts to climate change throughout the province.
In terms of road system, Dong Nai will coordinate with Central authorities and neighboring localities to synchronously develop a transport system for regional connectivity. Key projects include: the eastern North–South Expressway (CT.01) and western North–South Expressway (CT.02); cross-regional expressways such as Dau Giay – Lien Khuong Expressway and Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway; expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway; Ho Chi Minh City – Chon Thanh – Hoa Lu Expressway; Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4.
Currently, most of these expressways and ring roads are currently under construction, while Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 4 is undergoing investment procedures.
Among the projects of expressways and ring roads currently under construction, Component 1 of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway, the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh section, and Component 3 of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 are being accelerated for completion and operation in 2026.
According to Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha, for Component Project 1, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway; Component project 3, Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3, the Provincial People's Committee has also directed the investor, the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, to urge contractors to accelerate construction progress to basically complete these projects and put them into operation by the end of April 2026.

The expansion project of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh expressway is also scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, while the Long Thanh Bridge component is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2027, enhancing connectivity to Long Thanh International Airport.
As for the Project of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 4, Dong Nai province has officially approved Component Project 1-2 on compensation, support, resettlement, and construction of collector roads and side roads within the province. With this project, Dong Nai province also aims to start construction on the main route in 2026.
New routes to be planned for construction
Currently, one of the traffic "bottlenecks" that Dong Nai is focusing on resolving is the construction of roads connecting the northern and southern parts of the province.
The Project to Build Ma Da Bridge and the connecting road to Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 4, which is currently underway, is of strategic significance for intra-provincial traffic connection. As part of this project, ground was broken for the Ma Da bridge project in 2025. The connecting road from Ma Da bridge to Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 4 is undergoing investment procedures.
In the Dong Nai Provincial Master Plan, Dong Nai plans to develop a riverside boulevard along the Dong Nai River and a lakeside road around Tri An Lake, aiming to unlock the potential of river and lake areas to support socio-economic growth.
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha, once completed, this will be a vital transport axis, connecting the northern and southern parts of Dong Nai province.
Alongside the goal of strengthening transport connectivity between the northern and southern parts of the province, in the Dong Nai Provincial Master Plan, the locality also aims to research and build the North-South axis No. 2 (the route connecting Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway in Nghia Trung commune with Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway in Dinh Quan commune). This will be a transport axis that helps shorten the journey from the Central Highlands provinces to Long Thanh Airport, and the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port cluster.
Regarding the network of ring roads, in addition to Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Roads 3 and 4, Dong Nai province will also coordinate the research and development of an additional Ring Road 5 for the Ho Chi Minh City region based on the synchronously upgrading National Highways 56 and 56B.
Especially, in the "picture" of roads in the province in the coming time, one of the most anticipated projects is the Dong Nai riverside boulevard.
According to Truong Thi Huong Binh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Finance, alongside Long Thanh Airport urban area, the Dong Nai river corridor is one of the two growth drivers for the province's development in the coming time. To promote the development of the Dong Nai river corridor area, in its planning orientation, Dong Nai province plans to build an 8-10 lane riverside boulevard.
